humanaturescapes = human + nature + landscapes

Green spaces make us feel better…but why is it so? And how do these verdant environments affect us as humans?

Musings, questions, learnings, ideas, actions, research evidence and just general curiosity around this broader topic (and all the rabbit-holes this involves) will be shared here. Come join me…

  • RESTORE - The Book

    RESTORE - How Greens Spaces Support Human Restoration

    This print-on-demand book shares the history of green spaces as sites of calm, respite and restoration; the theoretical frameworks that research evidence are based on; and international case studies that demonstrate how green spaces continue to support our physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual needs.

  • Gardens

    Having begun with the RESTORE Book project, there are so many gardens to share, introduce, highlight and just generally rave about. This section goes into further detail than the book was able to in parts, as well as introducing further gardens that didn’t quite make it into the Book

    Who's this?

    Hello, my name is Sandra and this here offering is my way of sharing the benefits of nature, green spaces and outdoor communities. I hope there is something for you here - let me introduce myself…

I would like to acknowledge the lands on which I live, work and learn, the lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation, on the outskirts of Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Sovereignty was never ceded. I acknowledge the Aboriginal peoples of Australia as the world’s oldest living culture, with over 60,000 years of caring for land.

I pay my respect to the elders past, present and emerging and extend this to all people of First Nations throughout the world. I recognise the connection of Traditional Custodians to the land and waters of their respective countries.

May we all continue to learn from First Nations thinking, practice and knowledge systems.
